Cardholder Dispute
A Cardholder Dispute is a process initiated by a cardholder when they believe a transaction debited from their account was unauthorized or improperly executed.
This could stem from various reasons, including fraudulent transactions, dissatisfaction with a purchase, or discrepancies in billing. The cardholder then requests a chargeback from their issuing bank to reverse the transaction. It’s imperative that cardholder disputes are reserved for instances of actual fraud or scenarios where the merchant has failed to uphold their part of the sales agreement and declines to issue a refund.
This mechanism is crucial in protecting consumers from fraudulent activities and ensuring they receive the goods or services as promised.
